Which should I pick? Long Term visit Pass or Dependant’s Pass

This is a rough guide on the requirements for the Dependants Pass and the Long Term Visit Pass.
A foreigner on a Employment Pass/ S Pass/ PEP/ EntrePass can bring the following people along on a Dependants Pass

1. Legally married spouse
2. Unmarried child below 21 years old

The sponsor is required to have a minimum monthly income of $6000 SGD to sponsor relatives under the dependants scheme.
A Long Term Visit Pass may be used for such family members who do not qualify for the Dependants pass. Examples of these family members who can be brought in to Singapore on a Long Term Visit Pass is

1. Unmarried step child below 21 years old
2. Unmarried handicapped child over 21 years old
3. Parents
4. Mother/ Grandparent of student pass holder

Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents may also sponsor the following relations on a Long Term Visit Pass

1. Foreign Spouse
2. Foreign born child below 21 years old
3. Parents

The Long Term visit Pass awards recipients with an average of 2 years stay in Singapore. Further, there appear to be no specific income requirements for this pass. Both Dependant’s Pass and Long Term Visit Pass holders are required to get a work visa if they wish to work in Singapore.
